Hello! I’m Janice. I’m a psychological therapist (BSc, MAPC, MBACP) with over a decade of experience in counselling across a variety of settings. I am a certified member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I have extensive experience in assessments, treatment planning, and delivery of therapeutic interventions to clients with trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and addictions. I have worked with many individuals through their past traumas to experience breakthrough in areas of emotional and mental “stuck” points to arrive at greater self-understanding and move towards achieving future hopes and goals. I am currently based in the UK, and continue to work with therapy clients based both in the UK and internationally. No matter your location, I am able to offer online therapy sessions.
I am also a non-profit executive who has led teams and built programs in organisations across diverse contexts, including working with those affected by incarceration, forced migration, sexual and gender-based violence, and human trafficking. I have worked as Project Manager in Hong Kong's most established service for surivivors of sexual violence, Head of Psychosocial Services at a leading provider of support services to refugees and asylum seekers, and more recently, served as CEO of an organisation that supports survivors of sex trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation to exit, recover and build skills for permanent exit from the commercial sex industry. I also deliver training to frontline professionals on trauma-informed care and therapeutic interventions, as well as provide clinical supervision to counsellors in training.
My publications have aimed to address the gap between academic research and clinical experience. In a collaboration with the City University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University, I produced academic research on minority women/girls and gender-based violence. I also co-authored a toolkit for front line professionals on strategies to engage minority ethnic women and girls on issues of gender-based violence.
